2009 Indiana Authors Award winners’ and finalists’ books are now available for checkout throughout the state through the Indiana Humanities Council program, Novel Conversations!

Novel Conversations (formerly called Humanities to Go) is the statewide lending library of the Indiana Humanities Council and is open to any Indiana book club. Through this program, the Council maintains and circulates a collection of books and a library of multimedia materials.

The Council lends more than 300 titles, primarily fiction and biography, to reading and discussion groups at libraries, senior centers, schools, and other organizations, free of charge.

The Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library Foundation recently donated several new titles to Novel Conversations. The collection represents prize-winning and finalist books from the 2009 Indiana Authors Award program, including:

  • Dear Mrs. Lindbergh by Kathleen Hughes
  • In the House of Blue Lights by Susan Neville
  • What This River Keeps by Greg Schwipps
  • Saint Patrick’s Battalion by James Alexander Thom
  • Les Barricades Mysterieuses by Jared Carter
  • Body of Work: Meditations on Mortality from the Human Anatomy Lab by Christine Montross
  • Lynching in the Heartland, A: Race and Memory in America by James H. Madison
  • A Conservationist Manifesto by Scott Russell Sanders
  • When I Crossed No-Bob by Margaret McMullan

Visit the Indiana Humanities Council Web site to find out more or to reserve copies of these titles for your own book discussion group.
